There's a Reason for the Success of the Tourism Industry in Lake Charles and SW Louisiana!

Contraband Pointe North is poised to contribute to this important sector.

Calcasieu Lake is recognized by experienced fishermen as a premier Trophy Trout Lake and is considered one of the top Speckled Trout estuaries in the country!

Check out the websites of these fishing guides as listed on the SWLA Convention and Visitor's Bureau page. You'll learn that waterfowl hunters enjoy duck and goose hunting here as there are plentiful mallards, pintails, and teal. Snow, Blue Specklebell, and Canada Geese can also be found.

Because of its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, multiple lakes, the Calcasieu River, and English Bayou, Contraband Pointe is strategically located to provide opportunities for commercial enterprises specializing in fishing, hunting, and all things outdoors and water-related. A few development ideas:

  • visitlakecharles Instagram 2557 ig 17995282136610640Build a marina to accomodate local and visiting boats, as well as all types of boat rentals. By offering canoes, kayaks, and paddleboard rentals, locals and the hundreds of thousands who visit L'auberge and Golden Nugget Casino and Golf Resorts monthly will have easy access to the bayou and beyond.
  • Create stocked detention ponds and utilize for fishing camps for those kids and adults who want to learn to fish or sharpen their cast and catch skills.
  • Design and build a Culinary Center that can satisfy numerous demands of our culinary-conscious area as well as offer classes for guest to learn how to clean and prepare their day's catch.

For all the water in Southwest Louisiana, there are minimal retail opportunities or restaurants that can boast they are on the water. Visionary developers will quickly embrace the advantage of connecting the various offerings along the bayou with a boardwalk encompassing the entire  property.father and daughter fishing iStock 955507238

Picture VRBO-like homes and cabins offering their visitors a myriad of activities on and off the water and it is easy to see that Contraband Pointe North holds the potential to become a premier destination easily accessed via boat, I-210, L'auberge Blvd, W Prien Lake Road, and, in 2026, the Nelson Road Extension Bridge.
